Epsom Salt Bath Treatment #3 – A Surprise Benefit?

Date: Saturday, March 1st
Time: 8:00 PM

For my third Epsom salt bath, I kept everything the same—same water temperature, same setup with the candle, sparkling water, and audiobook. The only real change was that I took it later in the evening this time. Since it had been a pretty easygoing day, I didn’t have much stress or tension to shake off, but the bath was still a welcome way to wind down.

One interesting thing I noticed this time was the state of a scrape on my knee from a volleyball game earlier in the week. When I first started these treatments, the scrape was still pretty fresh—it had stung a bit when I got in the salty water. But this time, I felt no sting at all. When I looked at it, I realized it had almost completely healed. Usually, a scrape like this would take a good while longer to fully close up. It made me wonder—could the Epsom salt baths actually be speeding up my healing? I know magnesium plays a role in muscle recovery and skin health, so it’s something I’ll be keeping an eye on as I continue with these treatments.

Later that evening, I remembered (a little too late) that I hadn’t done my daily treadmill session yet. After the bath, I was feeling relaxed and comfortable, and the last thing I wanted to do was hop on the treadmill. But I dragged myself to it anyway, expecting a sluggish workout. Surprisingly, it turned out to be a great session. I usually sweat a lot when I exercise, and I sometimes feel a bit off afterward—like my salt levels are low or I’m not fully hydrated. But this time, I felt solid the whole way through. I wonder if the extra magnesium in my system from the bath is helping with that. If so, that’s a huge win.

All in all, this session reinforced that these baths are doing more for me than just relaxation. Whether it’s better recovery, improved sleep, or even faster healing, there seem to be real benefits to this practice. I’ll have to keep experimenting and see what else I notice as I continue with these treatments.
