For my second Epsom salt bath, I made a few adjustments to refine the experience. After my first attempt, I realized that the water temperature was a little too hot for full relaxation. So this time, I dropped it by a couple of degrees—and what a difference that made! I was able to fully settle into the bath without feeling overwhelmed by the heat, which made the whole experience much more enjoyable.
I also put more effort into setting the scene for relaxation. Instead of just hopping in and hoping for the best, I brought along a few things to make it a true unwind session. I lit a candle, grabbed some cold sparkling water to sip on, and played an audiobook in the background. With all of these elements combined, the bath felt downright luxurious. It was exactly the kind of atmosphere I needed to let go of any lingering tension.
This time, I took the bath following a session of incline walking on the treadmill, and I could really feel the difference in my body. My muscles seemed to appreciate the warmth and minerals, and I felt like the treatment helped me recover from the activity. Another thing I noticed was that I didn’t feel as wiped out afterward. I think a combination of being more hydrated and having exercised beforehand made a big difference in how I felt post-bath. Unlike my first session, where I became extremely sleepy right after, this time I was able to carry on with my afternoon and evening as usual.
Even though I didn’t experience that same overwhelming drowsiness, my sleep quality was still excellent that night. I went to bed feeling well-rested and woke up feeling refreshed, which tells me that the bath still had a positive effect on my overall recovery.
This session was a big step up from the first one. The small adjustments—lowering the water temperature, creating a more relaxing atmosphere, and being mindful of hydration—really paid off. I’m excited to keep refining this routine and seeing what other improvements I can make next time!
